After driving through South Grand Boulevard on our last eating adventure we discovered many more restaurants that we needed to try! So before seeing Annie at the Fox Theater, we stopped by Tree House to try it out! We have gotten a little bit frustrated with trying to find out information about the quality of the food at some of these restaurants, because much of the staff is not well informed. Especially here, we got a lack of answers and the answers we did get seemed to conflict depending on the person we asked. Although the food tasted great, it is always a better experience when we are aware of the quality of the food we are eating. (Miriam)
Overall Rating ★★ ★
Food ★★★★
Tree House is a vegetarian restaurant with menu items marked for those who are gluten free or vegan.
Their menu looked really unique and it was a struggle picking what we wanted to eat! Everything had a touch of creativity and many of the options were things we have never had before! Along with their more traditional choices, they had a lot of items that seemed to have a sort of Mexican flare.
We wanted to try something different, but also play it safe, so we decided on the Tree House Seasonal Salad and the Desayuna Latino.
The salad was made of greens, sweet potato, brussels sprouts and nuts, and served with a maple vinaigrette. The sweet potato and brussels sprouts added a nice healthy touch and the dressing was sweet.
The Desayuna Latino was made with a masa cake (corn cake), stuffed with beans and veggies, and served with two over easy eggs. The masa cake was very soft and moist, and the sauce it was served with gave it a hint of spice. The eggs were fairly mild and served with very runny yolks.
I would definitely love to return here and try more of their creative options!

Quality ★★
We were told that they try to use local and organic produce whenever possible, but we were unable to find out what that meant exactly.
The only sure bet of getting something organic, is to go with a salad. They are made with organic lettuce and mixed greens.
We were told by two different people, two different answers about where the eggs were from. Our waiter told us that they were generic eggs, while a different waiter told us that they were free range and local. The eggs did have a very deep yellow/orange color to them so we think and hope that they are higher quality than generic eggs.
As for their drinks, they have organic and fair trade coffee and local organic tea from Retrailer. They also have organic coconut water and freshly squeezed juice.
They do try to be environmentally friendly by recycling and composing as much as possible.
Unfortunately they only use canola and soy oil, which are both genetically modified. This is something we have started caring about more, so we haven’t been eating here as often.
Atmosphere ★★★★
We went on a Sunday afternoon and they had a little band playing in the front. The music was a nice touch and was quiet enough that we could still hear each other. The decoration felt very natural with some trees painted on the wall and had colorful and fun chairs and a vintage finished ceiling.
Service ★★★
Our waiter was very nice in trying to answer our questions, but we couldn’t get specific answers like we were hoping to. Our food came out in a timely manner and we were checked on to make sure we liked everything.
Price $$
Their small plates are around $8 and their large plates range from around $10 to $14. They also have a “snack” section that ranges from $5 to $12, just depending on what you order.

They are located on South Grand Boulevard next to many other restaurants and shops.
