Winslow’s Home is a unique restaurant dedicated to providing fresh and local foods. How fresh is it? A lot of the produce comes straight from their own garden, into the kitchen, and on to our plates. It’s a great sit down restaurant, but they also sell a range of other items from baked goods to cool home decor.

After driving through South Grand Boulevard on our last eating adventure we discovered many more restaurants that we needed to try! So before seeing Annie at the Fox Theater, we stopped by Tree House to try it out! We have gotten a little bit frustrated with trying to find out information about the quality of the food at some of these restaurants, because much of the staff is not well informed. Especially here, we got a lack of answers and the answers we did get seemed to conflict depending on the person we asked. Although the food tasted great, it is always a better experience when we are aware of the quality of the food we are eating. (Miriam)

We’ve heard about Lulu’s Local Eatery’s food truck being at some local events and have been meaning to try it for a couple years now! We only haven’t because it is a bit of a drive for us, but their recently opened store front is conveniently located only a couple of minutes from The Botanical Gardens, so we spent a nice day walking around at the gardens and trying some new food! It was the day after Thanksgiving so although we were stuffed we managed to eat at three different places! We were pleased by their use of many local and organic ingredients, and the variety of menu options including gluten free and vegetarian! We will definitely be back soon to try everything that we didn’t get this time around! (Miriam)

Or Juice and Smoothie is a great place to stop for an organic juice or smoothie, or quick high quality salad or snack. The majority of ingredients are organic and the owners seem to be aware of health foods, carrying several high quality supplements and food supplies in their store.

We stopped by for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. This local eatery has recently expanded to provide some nice seating for guests. Their first expansion was in December 2013 and their 2nd was this past summer, 2014. The place was bustling, and the food was quite good. This is an all vegetarian restaurant and they had several gluten free and vegan items which we were thrilled about. This restaurant was definitely another winner and we will be back again!

Hannah came into town for her fall break last week and we planned another girls day for the three of us. We went to Grant’s Farm in the morning and had so much fun feeding the goats and camels. By the time we were done looking at all the animals we were starving, so not having anywhere to eat we turned to Google. Seedz Cafe was the first restaurant that popped up when we searched for organic restaurants so we thought we would try it out. It turned out to be an adorable little organic and vegan cafe style restaurant that had the highest quality food we have found so far. This one was a definite winner and we can’t wait to go back!
