Nordstrom Bistro Café

Nordstrom Bistro Cafe is a little hidden gem inside several Nordstrom stores around Saint Louis malls. We were lucky to come across this restaurant while shopping at the Galleria one day and were thrilled with what we found! This is definitely a step up from the food court options you usually find in the malls.

Shoutout: SweetArt

IMG_0651Being gluten free and having a giant sweet tooth can be tricky, especially when it comes to finding good desserts out. But then we discovered SweetArt, a bakery focusing on using real ingredients that offers a daily gluten free cupcake. Yep you heard right, gluten free cupcakes EVERY DAY! Don’t get us wrong, they also have great food, but we keep coming back for the cupcakes.

Revel Kitchen

Revel Kitchens is a great, reliable restaurant that has greatly expanded and succeeded, originally  located in the revived Cherokee Street neighborhood, near our favorite I Scream Cakes and Whisks Bakery. They serve an enticing menu of delicious local menu items including bowls, sandwiches and salads, with healthy protein sources ( grass fed meat, chicken, eggs and wild salmon ) . Their focus is on healthy and local food items. Their entire menu includes several gluten free options,  which is wonderful for those with gluten sensitivities. They are famous for providing healthy foods to fortify several famous Saint Louis professional athletes. They provide delivered meals, along with the food available at their 3 restaurants with small dining areas.

The Wolf

We first visited The Wolf on a Tuesday night, which also happened to be open mic night. The relaxing environment really stuck out to us, and it was so much fun enjoying some original music and delicious food. We have visited during lunch hours also and found the menu to be delightful and enticing, with very high quality food to choose from!

This restaurant has continued to be excellent and is a long time favorite. We have brought out of town family here over the years and friends/ family always enjoy the varied menu ( even if they don’t care about food quality like we do. )  We also rented out their back room on a week night for a birthday celebration  a couple of years ago and everyone enjoyed the excellent food. 12/30/24

Rooster

roost5Rooster is one of the many local St. Louis restaurants owned by David Bailey as part of all six of the Baileys’ sister restaurants.  We discovered this restaurant on a hunt for gluten free crepes and were pleased with Rooster’s food as well as their environmental practices.  This trendy café was very busy on the Sunday afternoon when we went and it was clear that many locals enjoyed the delicious brunch menu.  We are definitely looking forward to dining at the rest of the Bailey restaurants and hope they are just as enjoyable!

Winslow’s Home

January 2015 248Winslow’s Home is a unique restaurant dedicated to providing fresh and local foods. How fresh is it? A lot of the produce comes straight from their own garden, into the kitchen, and on to our plates.  It’s a great sit down restaurant, but they also sell a range of other items from baked goods to cool home decor.

Tree House

January 2015 096After driving through South Grand Boulevard on our last eating adventure we discovered many more restaurants that we needed to try! So before seeing Annie at the Fox Theater, we stopped by Tree House to try it out! We have gotten a little bit frustrated with trying to find out information about the quality of the food at some of these restaurants, because much of the staff is not well informed. Especially here, we got a lack of answers and the answers we did get seemed to conflict depending on the person we asked. Although the food tasted great, it is always a better experience when we are aware of the quality of the food we are eating. (Miriam)

I Scream Cakes

IMG_2449After seeing a booth from I Scream Cakes at the Saint Louis Fair Festival this past summer and trying a delicious vegan, gluten free, AND organic ice cream cone, I have been dying to visit their store and see what they have to offer! We were so excited to discover this local ice cream shop and enjoyed tasting their delicious treats! It was a fun end to a day of eating and walking around the Botanical Gardens!

YaYa’s Euro Bistro

October 2014 photos 133

We have been meaning to go to YaYa’s for months now because we have heard so many raving reviews about their delicious and high quality food. My dad was out of town for the week so we took advantage of having a night with just the two of us. We enjoyed our relaxing date night out and got to spend time chatting with the manager and learning all about the restaurant and their mission. (Miriam)
