OR Juice and Smoothie

Or Juice and Smoothie is a great place to stop for an organic juice or smoothie, or quick high quality salad or snack. The majority of ingredients are organic and the owners seem to be aware of health foods, carrying several high quality supplements and food supplies in their store.

Food ★★★

While the smoothie and drink menu was large, the food options were limited.  Most of their food was Asian centered with a couple soup and salad options. We ended up ordering a garden salad, iced cappuccino, and happy bowl. The garden salad was a typical salad with organic lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, avocados, and homemade dressing. The happy bowl consisted of organic rice noodles with vegetables and a crumbly topping of veggies and delicious, healthy dressing. The food tasted mild with an oriental, Asian flare to it.

Quality ★★★★

This restaurant uses high quality foods in their products.  Their coffee drinks are made with organic coffee, organic milk, and organic flavored syrups. They also offer juices, smoothies, and bubble tea made with organic fruit and veggies, whenever possible. 

The  counter employee informed us that 95% of their ingredients are organic, including produce, noodles, sweeteners, and cleaning products.  The do not use MSG or microwaves and use extremely healthy brands in their homemade sauces and dressings such as Bragg’s organic raw apple cider vinegar. Their website advises consumers that they use reverse osmosis water for their cooking and that they do not use microwaves, which is a very important practice since microwaves are known to destroy nutrients in food.

The restaurant uses safflower and olive oils.  Olive oil is superior and safe for cooking. Both oils are better than canola and soybean oils, which have the added problem of typically being genetically modified, in addition to being highly processed. (Michelle)

Atmosphere ★

The restaurant seems more like the kind of place you stop in for a smoothie or juice to go than a sit down restaurant.  They have indoor seating, but the inside is fairly plain.  There were boxes of juices sitting out in the open, along with some food show cases that were empty. The menu  hanging on the wall looks a little worn. The quality of food definitely helped make up for the atmosphere, but next time we go here it will probably be to pick up food to go. They also have no public restroom, and we were told to go next door to Schnucks to go to the bathroom.

Service ★★★★★

The woman at the counter was extremely patient, kind and friendly. She answered all of our food questions with enthusiasm and detail. She bought our food out to us quickly and seemed genuinely interested in whether we liked the food or not. We definitely want to return next time we are in the area to try their smoothies and juices.

The food items ranged from 5 to 10 dollars, quite reasonable for such high quality food.
